Anthea Kreston is a world-renowned violinist and violist who has performed on almost every major concert stage around the globe. She has played in the Berlin Philharmonic, as Principal Violin in the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and as concertmaster of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Anthea studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Hartt School of Music. From 2000 to 2004 she traveled and performed with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Project.

An avid writer, she is a frequent columnist for Norman Lebrecht’s London-based Slipped Disc website (which has a monthly visitation of 2 million). She built a large fan following with her weekly blogs from 2016 to 2019 on her experiences as a member of the Artemis String Quartet and it was one of the top 5 most read music blogs internationally. She is the founder and curator of the Inside Music Book Club, an online book club which brings an international group of music lovers, musicologists, performers, and authors together for in-depth discussions. She has published articles in classical publications such as Strings and Chamber Music Magazine. She has also found time to produce and host a variety of podcasts, notably a series of podcasts for Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Saal for their Quartet Festival, and run the Inside Music Academy, which has brought together students from all over the world to study from master teachers.

Anthea has been featured in the New York Times, Strings and Strad Magazine for her work with students during Covid, community building through music, and music therapy with abused children. She has appeared on numerous radio shows on National Public Radio, American Public Media, Canadian Public Broadcasting, German ARD, WQXR NY, and many more. She also starred in the Neverending Story, a documentary by an award-winning Dutch director, and has appeared as a performer and mentor on NHK Japan, CBS, and a Cloudfare commercial. She can be heard on the recording labels Cedille Records, Erato, and Channel Classics.
